Okay, so this obviously isn't our baby, but I forgot to ask the doctor for a print out of the ultrasound this time around.
We had our 12 week ultrasound today. This was when they were going to do the NT (Nuchal Translucency) scan. Basically they measure the accumulation of fluid at the back of the baby's neck. If there is a large build up it can be an indication of birth defects such as Down's Syndrome. Our baby had a beautiful thin little line of fluid, well within the normal range. And let me tell you, he/she is beautiful.
The doctor was moving the wand around and it was hard to tell what was what at first, then suddenly I see this little foot go floating by. "A FOOT, OUR BABY HAS FEET". I think I started to cry at this point as well.
We saw beautiful long legs, a spine (yay, we're not having a jellyfish) and ribs, his heart and bladder (yup, the little guy is peeing in there). It was all so amazing to think this little person was growing inside of me.
I was so overwhelmed with emotion I totally forgot to ask for a print out of the ultrasound. Damn. I seriously want an ultrasound machine in our house so I can watch him/her every day, for hours.
