We had our anatomy scan done today. This is basically where they go in and take a close look at all her organs to make sure everything is developing okay, that her limbs are growing correctly and take various measurements.

200809-photo-23weeks-face.jpgThe doctor went in and looked at her face, confirmed that everything was as it should be, no cleft lip or palette, measured her skull, etc. It was a little hard to get in to see her face as she had her arms up in front of her and kept doing this bob and weave movement making it difficult to see one side of her face. She did eventually sit still long enough for the doctor to get a good look, and to snap a picture.

200809-photo-23weeks-spine.jpgThis is a profile shot of her skull and spine. He also went in and looked at her brain, confirmed that it was developing correctly, with two halves, etc. He also looked at her heart. We were able to see all four chambers pumping away. And she had fluid in her tummy which means she's swallowing amniotic fluid, as she should be.

200809-photo-23weeks-arms.jpgThese are her hands and forearms, you can see one hand curled up.

200809-photo-23weeks-legs.jpgThese are her legs, knees to ankles specifically (I think).

200809-photo-23weeks-girl.jpgWe had them confirm that the baby was indeed a girl!

200809-photo-23weeks-measur.jpgThe doctor went through and measured all her limbs, skull and estimated her weight (1lb 1oz), all of which were well within the normal ranges.

Except the one to the left, her leg, which measured long. She's gonna be tall.

Oh, big surprise there!
