I apologize in advance...
I am gettting rid of my old blog site which includes photos, art, blogs and jewelry but since I don’t want to lose all my old posts-some of them are dear to me-I will be splitting them all up between Facebook and here.
I apologize for littering up your newsfeed with old material… much of it will be post-dated so hopefully it won’t show up in your newsfeed.

the bump : the birth story
So it was my last day of work before I went on maternity leave. Sophia’s original due date was June 22, but since she refused to turn we had a scheduled c-section for the morning of June 15th. This gave me exactly a week to finish organizing her room, wash her laundry, put together the cosleeper, finish packing our bags, etc. That morning I got up, squeezed my giant belly (and other...

the bump : 31 weeks
So we went for another 3D/4D ultrasound today (first one was on Friday) and she’s still not cooperating. She’s still laying transverse, with her head on my right side and her bum on my left. She had a hand in front of her face, as well as the umbilical cord and a FOOT. She’s very bendy. The U/S guy tried for 40 minutes each time to get the shot, but she just would not...

the bump : 28 Weeks
Yes, those would be my feet. Woke up with them so fat and swollen with giant rings of puffiness where my ankles used to be and little creases at the base of each toe. Its so bad, its actually comical. Other than that, I’m doing pretty well. The pelvic pain has gotten a bit better, and I can walk a bit easier than I could before so I’m happy about that. Some back pain, but its...

the bump : 25 Weeks
So yes, the belly is getting BIG, as are other parts of me. Overall I’m feeling pretty good, I was having some severe pelvic pain a couple of weeks ago. Started off feeling like a 300lb lumberjack had kicked me between the legs. While I COULD walk, it hurt to go more than a few dozen steps and generally by the time I got to where I was going I was near tears. I did go to the doctor,...

the bump : 23 Weeks
We had our anatomy scan done today. This is basically where they go in and take a close look at all her organs to make sure everything is developing okay, that her limbs are growing correctly and take various measurements.
The doctor went in and looked at her face, confirmed that everything was as it should be, no cleft lip or palette, measured her skull, etc. It was a little hard to get...

the bump : 22 Weeks
Tim got to feel the baby kick this week! Once again, she was kicking away after dinner and I told him to put his hand on my belly, but like usual she either got quiet or her kicks were too soft to feel so he gave up. But a minute later she kicked so hard I actually SAW my belly move so he quickly resumed his post and sure enough, she kicked him, again and again.
the bump : 21 Weeks, 40 and Pregnant
So today I turned forty. Yup, 40 and pregnant.
And no, I’m not freaking out about it, at least not the turning 40 part. Its just not something I’d ever thought I’d hear myself say, certainly not how I saw myself doing this. But it is what it is and I have no regrets about the timing of any of it. I was feeling pretty damn good, up until yesterday when the back pain kicked...

the bump : 20 Weeks
The first time I felt her kick was actually before Christmas. I was still wearing my regular jeans, sitting at my desk, leaning slightly forward and I felt this very distinct little PUNT to my insides, immediately followed by a series of flutters. I ran around the office telling everyone that I had just felt my baby kick for the very first time. It was an amazing feeling. That was in my...

the bump : 19 weeks, Its a ...
Yes, ITS A GIRL! Yes, I’m thrilled. However, I would have been thrilled if it was a little boy, too. Honestly, I couldn’t really decide if I wanted a girl or boy, I kept going back and forth on all the pros and cons of each. I know its cliche, but all that really matters to me is that she’s healthy. I do also hope she’ll be smart and I know she’s going to be...

the bump : 18 Weeks
We got our AFP blood panel results back and everything looks normal so we’re opting at this point to not do an amnio. I’m so relieved, on both accounts-healthy baby and I don’t have to have a giant needled inserted into my belly. I also had another ultrasound today! I went in just to have something checked out and the doctor went to listen to the heartbeat but...

the bump : 15 weeks
So you can’t really see the bump here, but I thought its a good photo and it was taken at the 15 week mark. It was taken by Paynie at the New Year’s Eve Moulin Rouge party. Had another docs appointment this week, this one was for the AFP blood panel which is genetic testing for birth defects. Again, this will let us know if there is an increased likelihood of birth defects. It...
